Barnard Castle
The historic market town of Barnard Castle stands at the gateway to beautiful, unspoilt Teesdale in County Durham. There are the treasures of the Bowes Museum to explore and quiet villages to visit with inns and cafés serving delicious local food. Shopping is a delight with many specialist shops and a weekly market as well as the best of local produce at the monthly farmers market. There are many antique shops and art shops.

Barnard Castle itself has an amazing selection of restaurants, cafés and pubs.

Teesdale
Teesdale is a walker’s paradise; visit ancient hay meadows and fabulous waterfalls, come and see the gentians flowering in the upper Teesdale National Nature Reserve and walk the Pennine and Teesdale Ways. Teesdale lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) and has Dark Skies listed areas.
